Hudson River is my constant. Even during this surreal time of a pandemic I find strength and comfort in studying the mighty river landscape. Each time I paint them it is a celebration. This landscape is my constant, my anchor, my home.
It took me a long time to find the courage to paint the river and the surrounding landscap as I see them. I'd been exposed to a lot of Hudson River School paintings that are so popularly revered but my aesthetic is informed by other influences such as Georgia O’Keefe, Milton Avery, David Hockney and others. My view is somewhat abstracted and simplified.
